scheme='http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#' term='South Africa'/>
South African Safari Holiday

Beach holidays are great in their own way with swimming, sun tanning, water sports and hopefully some relaxation but how about a mix of sunshine, relaxation and loads of serious adventure?
Go on a Safari in South Africa!!

South Africa is home to the world famous “Kruger National Park” which has 2 million hectares of pristine bush with an abundance of wildlife. Within The Kruger Park you can see the Big Five, zebra, giraffe, hippo, numerous antelope species, a staggering 500 bird species and much, much more.

For accommodation there are a number of different camps/lodges in the Kruger Park such as Skukuza Rest camp, Olifants Main Camp, Letaba Rest camp, Pretorius Kop Rest camp and many others. Most of the larger camps have swimming pools, restaurants, curio shops and even grocery stores.

Early morning and late afternoon are the best times to go on safari in search for wildlife, especially in the summer months which can easily reach temperatures as high as 40°C during the day!
Most of the camps offer game drives with qualified guides to who have a passion for sharing their knowledge about the fauna and flora to make your safari an unforgettable experience.
If you prefer to do your own safari, then just simply climb into your own vehicle and drive. You don’t need a 4 x 4 as most of the roads are tarred and in very good condition. A detailed road map of the reserve can be attained at most camps and the roads are very well signposted making it very easy to navigate through the reserve.
The gates to camps are opened early in the morning around sunrise and are closed again around sunset, so be sure to be back in time before they close.

For a somewhat more exclusive safari there are the private concessions in the Kruger National Park.
These concessions have the own properties which are not open to the public. There are no tar roads and many of them drive off-road to get closer to the game (Big 5) for better viewing.
There is a chance of seeing more game in the private concessions as the guides are in constant radio contact, calling in the different sightings and locations of the animals.
Many of the lodges have experienced trackers that sit on the bonnet of the vehicles. The tracker looks out for fresh animal tracks to follow, thus increasing the chance of seeing more.

What also adds to the experience is that many of lodges in the concessions drive with open vehicles and at night if the sky is clear, you have the most mind-blowing and amazing view of the Milky Way Galaxy!

Up for some adrenalin? If so there go on a guided bush-walk. The guide with a rifle at hand for obvious reasons takes you deep into the bush where you learn all about the birds, trees, insects, animal tracks and maybe even come across one of the Big Five! A bush-walk is a must not miss experience.

The private concessions are well known for their luxury lodges so be prepared to be spoilt with great food, superb service and excellent accommodation.

If you’re up for an adventure of a lifetime then a safari in South Africa is the perfect choice for you.

Things to do in Mauritius

Mauritius, also known as the “Jewel of the Indian ocean” is renown as one of the most incredible tourist destinations in the world.

This holiday paradise naturally has so much to offer when it comes to luxurious hotels, resorts, sports, social activities, breathtaking scenery, excellent food and great service!

For an unforgettable holiday experience, the following resorts are highly recommended: Le Paridis, One & Only Le Saint Géran, Dinarobin Hotel Golf & Spa, One & Only Le Touessrok and Royal Palm Grand Baie.

Mauritius has seven superb championship golf courses to offer, which are found near to or inside the resorts. La Vanille Crocodile Park boasts over a thousand Nile crocodiles, giant tortoises, monkeys and bats.
You also have the opportunity to walk among the giant tortoises and even ride on them.

For a totally unique experience, go for an undersea walk. Once all kitted up in your clear bubble helmet, rubber shoes, oxygen hose and the rest of the equipment you then take a leisurely stroll along the sandy sea bed while the fish nibble food from your hands. Even if you can’t swim you can still do the undersea walk. Just awesome!
The undersea walk is all in all about half an hour long.

Ever been in a submarine? If not then Grand Baie is the place to be.
Blue Safari Submarine, has two vessels, the BS 600 (a small submarine) and the BS1100 (a large submarine). You are taken on a one-hour trip down to depths of 40 meters for fantastic views of the coral-life, fish as well as the wreck of an old Japanese fishing boat called the “Star Hope”.
And to add more to the experience, you can even stop deep down under for some lunch and wine!

For the keen fishermen, Mauritius is the ideal destination for superb deep-sea fishing. Large game species include; barracuda, tuna, marlin and a variety of sharks such as hammerhead, tiger and black fin.
For organised deep-sea fishing trips the best locations are at the Trou Aux Biches and Grand Baie.

A holiday in Mauritius, with its abundance of water sports such as parasailing, windsurfing, sea kayaking, water skiing, catamarans, snorkelling and scuba diving and much more packs the day full of action and adventure.

If you enjoy diving then you will be blown away by the stunning coral reefs and the numerous fish species to be seen.
